How do I get rid of the red vertical stripe on my monitor?
About a year ago, when I turned on my monitor this red vertical stripe appeared on the screen. It was a fairly new monitor, and so I don't think it is because it is dying. It always appears in the same place, about 1/3 of the way from the left side on the monitor. Any ideas?
You have either bad contacts in the LCD matrix, or a dead line of pixels. Try massaging the plastic at the top and bottom of the plastic frame right where the line begins and ends. You may see a change. if you do, it's possible someone who knows what they are doing (i.e.: not you, sorry) *may* be able to fix it. But it's a complicated process and there is no guarantee that it will work, or last. There is also a chance that it will be made worse.
if it's under wty, don't delay, contact the place who sold it to you and get the screen replaced. If it's not under wty, you're options are to pay someone to *try* to fix it. Have the screen replaced. Put up with it. Sorry. It's a common fault with LCD's and there is no easy fix.
Someone wrote get drivers updated. Ignore this, it's not a driver issue.
