Am I being irrational by wanting to write my own songs?
My band and I recently got back together and have practiced only a couple of times so far. We have a brand new drummer that I barely know. We are a classic rock/ blues band and I am a female singer that has always written my own songs because I am so picky about the lyrics and melodies. They always turn out awesome but my guitarist recently said that this new drummer wants to start writing lyrics for me. The drummer is much more into hip-hop type music and wears Ed Hardy shirts and aviators. I don't think he knows anything about classic rock. Am I being too stubborn by saying no? I just don't feel comfortable that they discussed this behind my back without including me in on the conversation. I want to have at least a part of writing them because I'm so picky. Am I being a stubborn B*tch?
it sounds like you would be the much better lyric writer, but to be fair you should both write lyrics and then discuss and vote as a band, if they wont even allow that, quit and find a new band
