How can I verify the ownership of the website for complete web security authentication Norton?
Hello Sorry I am very new to all this. I'm trying to get my test site for Norton Safe Web. Currently is shows that "Untested". Norton advised me to complete a certain process that I did. Unfortunately I'm stuck? I received from them an "auth file" re my site and was told to copy it to "root" of my site? I do not know how to do that. They suggest I could also copy instead "to met_tag site home page? Not sure what" met_tag is? Which of the above methods is easier to To a novice like me? Please help!
An authentication file is a file that you need to download the root directory of your site. You'll need FTP access to your website to do so. A metatag is a part of HTML code that makes your web pages. Seems to me like you do not have any knowledge in how websites work so I suggest you contact the people who host your site or your designer websites and email them the authentication file so they can download it for you. If your web designer is not an option and your guests will not do for you - ask them the details of FTP - it will be three pieces of info - 1. FTP host name (usually ftp.yourdomain.com) 2. Username 3. Password Once you have this information, type the FTP host name in your address bar of your browser Explorer. When prompted for username and password provide the information. It should now show all the files in your root directory. click on "Page" (top right corner of Internet Explorer) and select 'Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer. You can now copy and paste your "Auth File" in the window.
